said: mayo was fresh, actually.
said: regardless, whats the word on dumpstered mayo? It seems like a lot of expiration or sell by dates are frivolous, but mayo is a dairy product, so logic says 'no' to the mayo. However, the person to my right has informed me that she eats it all the time, and theres no problem, something about the vinegar preserves it (like pickles?).
Summary: personally I would have reasoned against it, but a more culinarily gifted person has told me that you can, in fact, eat expired mayo, although she cautions against 'really old' mayo.
said: i don't think mayo is a dairy product. it does contain egg yolks though. but any sealed container of mayo should be good well past it's sell-by date; things are fairly sterile inside of there.
