someone had to say it...

...the original version of madonna's hung up is (way?) better than the stuart price remix. i think the problem is that a lot of the vocals are missing from the remix. the original had great vocals, a deep beat, and that awesome loop that makes the song. if it's going to be remixed, it needs to have something added rather than taken away.

i think a dearth vocals is also related to the fact that i like the richard x remix of new order's jet stream lover song better than the jlc version.

rmd said: are you hearing the same remix that i am? the dub remix has the same abba sample looped, and if anything a deeper beat. also it has some vocals. i like price's production work on the original, but i like the song even more when he gives the beat & loop some room the breathe on the remix.

have you seen the video for the song? really fun. it's basically five minutes of people spontaneously dancing to the song, so it's pretty much my idea of a great music video. also, madonna humping the ground and other things. link.

og said: ok... i tried to listen to the extended dub again, and came to the same conclusion: original/radio version is definitely better... a few more reasons: takes a full minute+ for the flute sample to kick in, all the verses and most of the chorus(es?) are cut... every piece is great, and the song is best when all of the pieces are put together snugly, i.e., i don't think they need breathing room .

but!

i noticed on discogs that there is a stewart price extended vocal mix as well... i think i will try to check that out if i get a chance
