unfollowupable
there's probably no respectable way to follow up the last post, but if anyone can possibly trump roroder, it's my main man, freddie mercury. there's got to be a good book about freddie and queen out there, and i can't wait to read it. maybe it can explain where the hell this had its artistic inception. it's the theme from an 80s movie about flash gordon. i can't remember if the movie was any good, though i suspect not. regardless, the song is a work of beauty.

said: can you post a list of essential queen that i should listen to? i have only ever heard them on the radio. like a good comp and some selected album tracks or something. even whole albums as well if they warrant it.
said: i think most of what i consider to be essential queen is what's played on the radio, specifically:
another one bites the dust (especially)
under pressure
tie your mama down
crazy little thing called love
most people seem to consider essential queen to be the weird anthems like bohemian rhapsody and killer queen. they're good songs, but less fun, probably because i've heard them a million times. other favorite songs include:
the show must go on
i want to break free
flash's theme
hammer to fall
my favorite, favorite, favorite is of course
radio ga ga
as far as albums, i think the works and flash gordon are my favorites, probably the two most worth buying, but i think the most critically acclaimed are the game and a night at the opera. looking at the tracklist confirms that they are both definitely worth buying for $3-4 or so.
of course, your money will be most efficiently spent with a greatest hits comp. the good ones seem to be greatest hits vol. 1&2 or classic queen.
i just discovered that the album hot space was supposed to be a dance album, but the only song i know from it is body language, which is actually very good. i will post it soon.
