Me: After tossing around Turkey (thus far, THE most dynamic and unique country I have been to; once visited, I imagine that Bhutan could be a contender . . .) I went to Brazil.

You wouldn’t believe what they pay me to study. Wow. Honestly. I have been studying autonomy, going to multi-million dollar squats and secret temples built under mountains. Now I am studying Free-Cities, Secession, Independence, and Radical Nation Building; my whole pulse is throbbing. More on that later.

Because I also did something else! I finished my book!

Portland specific work, that is. Sorry.

The North Portland Farm has been generously gifted with a new lot to rehabilitate and farm for the next many years! Hooray! However, it’s kindof a shit-hope right now, and needs a lot of elbow grease to fix-r-up. This Saturday, we’ll be working at the site, digging blackberries, sequestering trash, taking soil samples, moving concrete, sheet mulching (hopefully) and chopping down some trees. The new lot is 3x bigger than our current space, and we’ll be able to farm both in conjunction. Its a super-fun(d) process that will yield a cool space. Get in!

(p.s. check out the cool old hobo-trail to a encampment in the pic, coming from the westernmost building)

Where: Meet at the North Portland Farm

When: Saturday, 11 am-4 pm

Why: Free bagels and coffee
