Only 13 months after my mom’s house was flooded with 1 ft. of water, another major flood from the Chehalis River filled the Independence Valley. Luckily they dodged the bullet this time around. The waters came close, but were lower than predicted, a good 2+ feet below last year’s level. Minor cleanup, but nothing like December 07. Those of you familiar with the Helsing Junction grounds might find these pictures interesting. They were taken 5 or 6 hours before the river crested, so they don’t show the water at its highest. Its always hard to imagine a normally dry landscape almost completely submerged in water.
